A decade-old fellowship of consequence

The tenth anniversary of the Thursday Business Group represents an important milestone in the life of an association that has grown organically from fellowship into a respected network of professionals, entrepreneurs, public servants and industry leaders.

Our journey began with the simple pleasure of gathering on Thursdays—sharing experiences, strengthening friendships and enjoying genuine camaraderie. Over the past decade, that foundation has evolved into something more purposeful: a brotherhood united by enterprise, service and the desire to create meaningful influence within our professions and society.

We have grown not only in membership, but also in stature, ambition and collective capacity. The diversity of our members—drawn from the public sector, technology, finance, healthcare, media, real estate, construction and other areas of enterprise—is one of our greatest strengths. It provides a rich combination of knowledge, experience and relationships that can be harnessed for the advancement of our members and the wider community.

Our first decade has brought notable achievements, valuable lessons and inevitable challenges. Among the most profound was the loss of our dear brother, core member and former Guv'nor, the late Hon. Damilare Adewunmi. His leadership, fellowship and contributions remain an enduring part of our history. His memory reminds us that the true strength of the Thursday Business Group lies not only in what we accomplish, but also in the relationships we build and the lives we touch.

Service has remained central to our identity. Through charitable initiatives and community interventions, we have continued to extend the benefits of our fellowship beyond the Group. We believe that professional accomplishment must be accompanied by compassion, social responsibility and a commitment to improving the lives of others.

Our tenth year is therefore a period of celebration, reflection and renewal. It provides an opportunity to appreciate our journey, evaluate our progress and reposition the Group for the decade ahead. It also calls us to strengthen our structures, deepen member engagement and translate our collective knowledge and networks into greater value and measurable impact.

As part of this next phase, we look forward to launching the TBG Annual Discourse in 2027. The initiative will provide a platform for informed dialogue and constructive engagement on important issues affecting enterprise, governance and national development. It reflects our ambition to contribute thoughtfully to public conversation and help shape practical responses to the challenges and opportunities before our nation.

Even as our ambitions expand, we remain firmly connected to our origins. The relaxed and welcoming spirit of our Thursday gatherings continues to define us. It is where friendships are strengthened, ideas are exchanged, talents are celebrated and opportunities are created. Our ability to combine enterprise with fellowship, service with influence, and professional distinction with genuine brotherhood remains the essence of the Thursday Business Group.

The first ten years have established a strong foundation. Our responsibility now is to consolidate that progress and build an organisation that is more structured, more influential and better equipped to serve its members and society.
